fell asleep on die hard

// November 26th, 2007 // movie talk

It’s not the movie’s fault. I took sleeping pills and it worked during the movie so it won’t be fair to write review about it.

So, I guess I’ll only write the ones I watched with full conscious.

Ratatouille

I like it so much better than Cars, but I think I still like Finding Nemo and The Incredibles more. Why I like it more than Cars? The story is just way more entertaining. There isn’t any question about the animation. I think Pixar is really the best in this genre. I am dare to bet that Ratatouille is the toughest candidate for the Oscar 2008.
So, the story is about a rat named Remmy who wanted to became a chef. It happened after he realized that he has “talent” in choosing which are the save things to eat for his colony. Soon, he also learn that not only he could tell which are poison and which aren’t, but he knew what delicious food are.
The spirit of his role model a chef named Auguste Gusteau guided him to follow his dream. Of course this isn’t something that regular rats usually dream of, but he is lucky to accidentally met a garbage boy Linguini who working in a restaurant. So, basically people thought that all the delicious food came from Linguini. Remi was seemed happy enough to do the things he believed that he destined to be even when Linguini took the credit. So, both share an unique and but mutual friendship.
There are so many things to like in this movie or should I say that it’s just hard to hate this movie? I am glad that Remi the rat is acting like one. He didn’t talk with Linguini. They somehow found the way in communicate to each other. It’s kinda remind me the movie Babe, on how the farmer started to understand the pig without even having communication in human way. That’s the kind of movie I like to watch. I just couldn’t stand when animals are too humanize, it made it less fun too watch.

The Departed

Well, nothing could go wrong in the hand of Martin Scorsese. I personally really like Taxi Driver and watching this one is like nostalgic. Scorsese is really the king of this genre.
The cast are just brilliant, especially Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon. Sure, Nicholson also great but I just feel like I saw him act the same million times before. However, it was really fun to see DiCaprio played as a undercover cop who trapped in a very dangerous situation while Damon played as a spy who is working for the bad guys. I must say even though Di Caprio doing a great job, but I was amazed to Damon’s character more, thanks to the actor of course. It made me couldn’t wait to see what future will bring to him and it seemed already that this guy is gonna be even bigger.
I can see why this movie won a Oscar (I haven’t watched Babel or The Queen yet). First I thought because the academy just feel bad for Scorsese. I think he and the movie really deserved the Oscar.

Crazy Love

Just like it’s name, this documentary is just crazy. I don’t want to spoil the ending so better watched yourself. The movie is probably just like the rest of documentary out there, but the story inside it that makes it different. You probably heard stories about some women who like to write letter to inmate and when they’re out they ended up getting married? Well, this one is crazier than those.

Feast
I know it has big name like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon behind this movie (as executive producers), but this movie just awfully bad. Okay, it’s about some creature that followed this husband and wive to a bar and then started killing everyone. Sounds boring? Well, it is! Even though they tried to make variety in how the people die or they didn’t kill the one that usually die first in this kind of movie, but it didn’t save the movie. This movie just bad, long and not worth any of your time (*)

    I hope this was Die Hard 4.0 and not the original!

    The Departed was an excellent film. The performances of both Damon and Di Caprio were fantastic and the type of roles were new territory for both actors.
