Good Year for Movies

It seemed that 2009 is gonna be the good year for movies.

I’ve already started mine by watching Wendy and Lucy. Not only this is the best opening movie for this year, it has entered the list of my favorite movies of all times.

The next one that I can’t wait to see is Coraline. Stories about parallel world, traveling through time are some of the theme that I always enjoy to see (not everything turns great though, for example the not so amazing but just plain boring Timeline).

I DO hope that this one turns great and it seemed like it might. At least Rotten Tomatoes likes it by certify it as FRESH! (88%).

Coraline now has hit the theater since Feb 6.

Of course, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. This is the most awaited movie in my list. Especially after they delaying it’s premiere to July 17 this year. I am thinking of starting doing re-read with the book to make sure I didn’t get lost (I still having little problem understanding British accent and there are no subtitles to help).

I am also a huge fan of Pixar movies and there will be another this year called Up. Maybe this is the one that finally gonna bring them Oscar for best picture?

I wanted to say that it’d hard to beat Wall-E, but after I saw Finding Nemo years ago, I thought the next Pixar movie will be just okay, but they came up with The Incredible who was still beyond amazing.

Up is coming to theater on May 2009 (that’s only few months away!)

Of course I’m waiting for Hilary Swank’s movie, Amelia. This is the kind of movie if it’s done right will be possibly getting all the Oscar buzz, but when it turns wrong then it could be one of the most boring movie. However, I HOPE that everything turns right.

No exact set date for this one.

Angels and Demons also seemed promising. Of course that’s what I thought when I saw Da Vinci Code trailer. I still like it and I thought that critics are being too harsh.

Again, it hasn’t been announce when this movie will hit theater.

More on my list including Doubt, Slumdog Millionare, Frost/Nixon, I’ve Loved You So Long, Happy Go Lucky, Let The Right One In and Rachel Getting Married.
